- Pop The Cap - celebrating North Carolina and independent beer - this group of 35 led the grassroots movement to get the 6% ABV cap on beers in NC raised to 15%. A raise of the beer mug to them!
- The Beer Mapping Project - this is by far the best use of the Google Maps API I've ever seen - find beer bars, beer stores, brewpubs, breweries and more right on the map
- Seven Pack - a couple of guys in not-so-distant Chapel Hill reviewing beer. Well put together under the tagline "We drink the beer, so that the kids don't have to..."
- Beer 101 - the educational site from Beer Advocate - from the right glass to use to the various styles of beer to the right food to eat with beer to how to host a beer tasting party to homebrewing and more
- What Temperature Should I Serve My Beer At? - this guide from RateBeer.com is invaluable to those who aren't quite sure what temperature is best for their beer style or those who aren't sure in which section of their dual zone wine/beer fridge they should put their bottles
- Hofbrauhaus Munchen - though the touristy place to go, we did have a good time at the Hofbrauhaus. The Dunkel was delicious and their tent at Oktoberfest was one of the most lively and festive:

Where to Buy Beer in Charlotte:
- Brawley's Beverage - Mecca is revered as the holiest site of Islam, and a pilgrimage to it is required of all able-bodied Muslims at least once in their lifetime. If you live in Charlotte and love beer then Brawley's is your Mecca and a pilgrimage should be made many times in your lifetime. You could try a new beer from there each week and you might not try them all before you die. I was like a kid in a candy store here. Michael Brawley, the owner, offers superb, over-the-top service and has a terrific beer knowledge. You can't miss here:

- Total Wine - I was actually very impressed with their beer selection. Make no mistake, it is a wine store first and foremost, but their beer selection was very respectable and is definitely a solid number two place for me in Charlotte. Some good finds and a lot of regional varieties. A large selection of multis and a decent showcasing of singles - mostly everything in singles you can also get in multis. Prices aren't bad either:
